Bridal Veil Falls - New Zealand
Gouache on Arches Watercolor Paper - 6”x10”
I absolutely loved creating this piece. During our hike to Bridal Veil Falls in New Zealand, I realized that the most interesting photos I took were of things other than the falls. While everyone else was snapping pictures of the falls, their photos all looked the same and felt uninspiring. So, I decided to focus on the details people often overlooked. For the reference photo I used for this painting, I positioned my camera between the bars of the pathway railing and captured the shot. It ended up being the perfect base for this piece. I had a great time painting it, though the most challenging part was capturing the right texture for the rocks. Overall, I’m really pleased with how it turned out.
