Trials never cease to follow the seeker of new skills. When first learning how to shoot film, this idea constantly rang true to me. From loading film into the canister to rolling the film into the spool to develop, something always seemed to go wrong at the beginning. The failures tempted me to quit as the ruined film took up every bag that I owned. One instance in particular, after each roll of film I shot was eaten by my camera, I decided to create a digital shoot that expressed my anger at shooting with film. In each photo, I aspired to show the frustration I experienced when nothing I did seemed to work. Using the ruined rolls of film that took up my bags, I took advantage of a difficult situation and created art I had not intended. This, I believe, is an important aspect of the creative process.
